Learn how to create, customize, save and share QR codes—no account needed.
Open the QR makerCreate your first QR code
- What should it open? Choose Website, Text, Wi-Fi, Contact, Email, SMS, Phone or Location and fill in the details.
- Make it yours. Pick a style, colour, logo or frame. The preview updates automatically as you edit.
- Review Check the live QR preview, choose the image size, then download a PNG, SVG or WebP file.
Test-scan the downloaded code with a phone before printing a large batch.
Create a QR code →Choose what people open
Open a website, product page, online menu or social profile. Include the complete URL.
Display a short message in a scanner.
Share the network name and password, with WPA, WEP or open-network options.
Make a vCard with a name, business, phone, email and website.
Start a new email with an optional subject and message.
Open a text message addressed to a phone number.
Dial a phone number.
Open a map using coordinates or a maps link.
QR codes created here are static. Their content is encoded inside the image. You can edit a saved project later, but a previously printed QR code cannot have its destination changed remotely.
Make the QR code yours
Use the style thumbnails or colour swatches as a starting point. Open More design options to fine-tune your design.
- Choose rounded, square, circular or soft dot patterns and corner styles.
- Change dot, corner and background colours using swatches or exact hexadecimal values.
- Enable a two-colour gradient and select its direction.
- Add an optional frame and short call-to-action label such as “SCAN ME”.
- Enable Transparent background for artwork you want to place on another design.
For dependable scanning, use darker dots on a light, plain background. Transparent codes need an appropriate contrasting surface behind them.
Add an image to the centre
In Make it yours → Logo, choose an image from your device. You can use PNG, JPG or WebP files up to 5 MB. Scan Dandy processes the image in your browser and places it in the centre of the QR code.
Adjust the logo size, replace it or remove it whenever you like. The centre image has a small backing area to help the code stay readable.
Larger logos can make QR codes harder to scan. Keep the logo modest and test it with more than one camera.
Download, copy or print
Use Review to preview your QR code and select an export size of 512, 1024, 2048 or 4096 pixels.
Best for everyday sharing, websites, graphics and presentations.
Vector artwork that stays sharp when resized for signs or print.
A lightweight image format for supported design and web workflows.
Copy the PNG if your browser supports image clipboard access, or use your device's print dialog.
When Transparent background is enabled, PNG, WebP and SVG exports preserve transparency. After starting a download, you will see an optional support message. Use Create another QR code to start fresh or Edit previous design to return to the same design.
Save your design and preferences
Changes to your current draft are remembered automatically in this browser where storage is available. This is convenient, but it is not a backup.
- Finish choosing your content, colours, image and other settings.
- Under Review, choose Save design, beside your download tools.
- Give the project a meaningful name and select Save design again.
- Use My projects to reopen, duplicate or delete saved designs. Open a project, adjust its settings and save again to update it.
Want to reuse your preferences? Save a design with your favourite style and colours, then duplicate it from My projects for the next code. There is no separate account-wide settings profile; each named project stores its own design choices.
Move or protect saved projects
- Open My projects in the QR designer.
- Choose Backup to download a JSON file containing your saved projects.
- Keep that file somewhere safe.
- To import projects, open My projects on the receiving device or browser, choose Restore, and select the backup file.
Back up your projects before switching phones, clearing browser data, using a new browser, or moving to a new domain. A new website address gets separate browser storage, so projects will not automatically move with the domain.
Where are my QR codes saved?
Scan Dandy stores the current draft and the named projects you save in your device's browser storage (local storage), associated with the website address. The application does not require an account or a cloud database for your QR content.
Your entered content and centre-logo uploads are processed in your browser during QR creation; the site does not upload them to Scan Dandy for processing. Downloaded image files and exported JSON backups go to your device through its browser download handling.
Important: Browser storage is specific to the browser and website, has size limits, and may be cleared by the user or browser. Private/incognito sessions are not suitable for keeping projects. Saved projects do not automatically sync between phones and computers.
Read the privacy policy →Common questions
Why won't my QR code scan?
Check that the QR content is valid, the colours have enough contrast, and the printed code is large and sharp enough. Try removing large centre images or complicated backgrounds. Test it with a phone camera before printing.
Why aren't my designs appearing on another device?
Saved designs live in each browser, not in a shared account. Export a JSON backup from My projects, then restore it on the other device or domain.
Why didn't my project save?
Your browser may block local storage, be in private mode, or have reached its storage limit (especially with large centre images). Try a normal browser window, use a smaller logo, and download a project backup when saving succeeds.
Can I change a QR code after I print it?
Not on a previously printed static QR image. You can reopen a saved project, edit it and download a new code, but the old QR will continue to contain its original information.
Why can't I copy a QR image?
Some browsers don't allow image clipboard writes. Use Download PNG instead, then share or paste the saved image from your device.
Why does a transparent QR code fail on my background?
Transparent QR codes rely on the colour beneath them. A busy, dark or low-contrast background can make scanning unreliable. Place the artwork over a light solid area or turn transparency off.
What happens after I download?
You'll see an optional support invitation. Contributions are not required to use the tool or to make another code; select Create another QR code or Edit previous design to continue.
Questions, bugs or ideas?
We'd love to hear what works, what doesn't and what would make Scan Dandy even better. If you're reporting an issue, include your device, browser, the steps to reproduce it and any relevant screenshots. Please don't send passwords, private QR content or payment details.
